Come, gather 'round and let me spin you a tale of the wild rosella—a quintessential symbol of the Australian bush, steeped in history, tradition, and the timeless wisdom of our Aboriginal ancestors.

In the heart of the Australian wilderness, where the earth meets the sky and the spirits of the land dance in the shadows, there grows a plant unlike any other—the wild rosella. With its vibrant red petals and delicate fragrance, the rosella has long been cherished by Indigenous peoples for its beauty, its nourishing properties, and its profound connection to the land.

Legend has it that the rosella was once a gift from the Dreamtime—a sacred offering from the ancestors to guide and protect their descendants. Aboriginal elders would gather the rosella's leaves and flowers, brewing them into healing teas and potions to ward off illness and bring balance to the body and soul.

As the sun sets over the horizon and the stars begin to twinkle in the night sky, the scent of wild rosella fills the air, mingling with the whispers of the wind and the songs of the birds. It's a fragrance that speaks of resilience and renewal, of the cycle of life and the eternal bond between humanity and the natural world.

Our Wild Rosella Candle captures the essence of this sacred plant, with top notes of rhubarb that awaken the senses like a gentle breeze on a warm summer's day. As you journey deeper into the fragrance, you'll encounter mid notes of raspberry and floral, like a melody of colors dancing in the sunlight.

But it's the spicy base notes and inclusion of orris root that truly bring the story to life, adding depth and complexity to the fragrance like the layers of history and culture that shape our identity as Indigenous peoples. With each flicker of the flame, the spirit of the wild rosella is reborn, reminding us of the beauty and resilience of our land and the importance of honoring the traditions of our ancestors.

So light up our Wild Rosella Candle and let its fragrance fill your home with the spirit of the Australian bush. It's more than just a candle—it's a journey of discovery, connection, and reverence for the natural world.

A great candle experience begins with proper candle care and maintenance. Here are some important burning tips for enjoying your Little Black Duck candle:

1. Preventing memory rings.

Believe it or not, candles have a memory and the very first time you burn your new candle is the most important. Ensure you burn your candle long enough to completely melt the entire top surface of your candle. If the wax is not allowed to liquefy or to melt from edge to edge of the container, it will create a “memory ring,”. Once a candle has this “memory ring,” it will continue to tunnel and to burn that way for the life of the candle. And no one wants that!

2. Trim your wick.

Before lighting, always trim the wick to 6mm and remove any wick debris as this encourages an even burn.

3. Be safe.

Always burn your candle on a heat resistant surface, keep it out of drafts and NEVER leave it unattended while lit. Always burn candles well away from other heat sources, and anything flammable. Make sure burning candles are out of reach of children and pets.

4. Goodbye is the hardest word.

KNOW WHEN TO SAY GOODBYE. When only 1/2" of wax remains, it's time to let your candle go. Discontinue use of a candle when ½” of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. This will prevent possible heat damage to the counter/surface or container itself. The glass can get hot on the bottom as the flame nears the base of the jar and most of the wax has been consumed. By following this instruction, the glass will not get too hot.

5. Know your limit.

Candles should not be burned for more than four hours at a time. It is recommended that after burning for four hours, candles be extinguished, allowed to cool for two hours, and trimmed before relighting.
