By The Bila | Original Artwork | Ashleigh Pengelly
Inspired by the movement of the Marrambidya Bila, this piece flows with the soft rhythm of water and Country.
Earthy browns echo the banks of the river, where footprints press into damp soil and coolamons are prepared to gather the season’s seeds. Soft ochres and warm clay tones speak to tradition and the knowledge passed down through generations.
Hints of blue—both sky and water—drift across the canvas, reflecting the connection between what’s above and what runs through the heart of Wiradjuri Country. There’s a gentle, roaming energy that winds through the piece—like people gathering, preparing for the next corroboree under a sky that knows their names.
This is a celebration of place, preparation and presence. A moment of calm before the dance.
This artwork will come framed in a Tasmanian oak floating frame and measures 100cm x 75cm.
