Girri meaning red in Wiradjuri language, is a symbolic artwork representing the many tribes meeting upon ceremonial ground for sacred business. The repeating circular motifs symbolize community gatherings, with each circle representing individual tribes or families coming together as one. The strong, radiating lines within the circles evoke a sense of shared purpose, unity, and deep cultural connection. Surrounding the circles are smaller curved forms, symbolizing the people—ancestors, elders, and younger generations- who walk the sacred ground to engage in knowledge-sharing, storytelling, and ceremony.

The bold red and black palette reflects the connection to Country: red for the earth and black for the cultural richness of First Nations peoples. Flowing white pathways weave between the gatherings, representing songlines and the journeys taken to connect tribes across the land. These pathways are not just physical but spiritual, connecting all present through a shared history and cultural identity.

The layered patterns in the background, created through rhythmic strokes, mirror the energy and movement of ceremonial life, grounded in both tradition and harmony with nature. *Girri* is a visual celebration of sacred spaces, bringing to life the strength and resilience of cultural gatherings that have shaped generations.
