Come, gather 'round and let me share with you the story of our Breathe Easy Candle—a tribute to the healing power of nature and the timeless wisdom of our Aboriginal heritage.

In the heart of the Australian bush, where the air is pure and the spirits of the land whisper ancient secrets, there grows a bounty of native plants renowned for their medicinal properties. Among them, the eucalyptus tree stands tall and proud, its leaves exuding a refreshing scent that clears the mind and invigorates the soul.

For generations, Aboriginal peoples have turned to the eucalyptus tree for its healing properties, using its leaves to create soothing balms and aromatic oils to ease respiratory ailments and promote overall well-being. It's a tradition steeped in history and culture, passed down from generation to generation as a sacred gift from the land.

But the eucalyptus tree is not alone in its healing powers. Alongside it, the peppermint plant thrives, its leaves releasing a cool, minty aroma that refreshes and revitalizes the senses. Aboriginal elders would often combine eucalyptus and peppermint in their healing rituals, creating blends that not only cleared the airways but also uplifted the spirit.

As you light our Breathe Easy Candle, close your eyes and inhale deeply, allowing the top notes of eucalyptus and peppermint to fill your lungs with their cleansing energy. Feel the menthol and rosemary wash over you like a cool breeze on a hot summer's day, clearing away any lingering tension or stress.

But it's the base notes of lavender and fir needle that truly bring the story to life, adding a touch of tranquility and serenity to the mix. Like a gentle embrace from Mother Nature herself, these fragrances envelop you in a sense of calm and well-being, reminding you of the innate connection between humanity and the natural world.

So light up our Breathe Easy Candle and let its fragrance fill your home with the spirit of healing and renewal. It's more than just a candle—it's a tribute to the resilience of Aboriginal culture, the wisdom of our ancestors, and the enduring power of nature to heal body, mind, and soul.

A great candle experience begins with proper candle care and maintenance. Here are some important burning tips for enjoying your Little Black Duck candle:

1. Preventing memory rings.

Believe it or not, candles have a memory and the very first time you burn your new candle is the most important. Ensure you burn your candle long enough to completely melt the entire top surface of your candle. If the wax is not allowed to liquefy or to melt from edge to edge of the container, it will create a “memory ring,”. Once a candle has this “memory ring,” it will continue to tunnel and to burn that way for the life of the candle. And no one wants that!

2. Trim your wick.

Before lighting, always trim the wick to 6mm and remove any wick debris as this encourages an even burn.

3. Be safe.

Always burn your candle on a heat resistant surface, keep it out of drafts and NEVER leave it unattended while lit. Always burn candles well away from other heat sources, and anything flammable. Make sure burning candles are out of reach of children and pets.

4. Goodbye is the hardest word.

KNOW WHEN TO SAY GOODBYE. When only 1/2" of wax remains, it's time to let your candle go. Discontinue use of a candle when ½” of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. This will prevent possible heat damage to the counter/surface or container itself. The glass can get hot on the bottom as the flame nears the base of the jar and most of the wax has been consumed. By following this instruction, the glass will not get too hot.

5. Know your limit.

Candles should not be burned for more than four hours at a time. It is recommended that after burning for four hours, candles be extinguished, allowed to cool for two hours, and trimmed before relighting.
